Dancehall Reggae recording artist, Esco aka Esco da Shocker is the son of veteran Jamaican disc jockey, Errol ‘ET’ Thompson (former Wailers backing singer, Marcia Griffiths is his step-mom), Esco (Matthew Thompson) is the product of a major reggae bloodline.    Esco’s own production credits included co-produced material on nearly every big rhythm to come out of Jamaica such as: the Dem Time Deh and the Bullet Riddim collection among others.  Key hits recorded with former partner in musical madness included charting favorites; “Tuk In Yuh Belly” and “Wine Up Pon Har”.

In 2008, 1-1-1 Productions allowed Esco to focus on new Riddim projects.  Esco premiered his talents with the ‘one off’ track “Drunken Dance”, followed by “Badman Skank” for Future Fambo. The first Riddim project released THE SHOW GOES ON Riddim contains songs by:  Deva Bratt with “Do It Hot”, Esco aka The Shocker with “Control Dis Ting”, Fresh Money’s “Horny Anyone”, Delly Ranks featuring Smurf’s song “Head A Leak”, Future Fambo with his “Fren Ova Gal”, budding songstress Malica with “Hot Gal Step Out”, Wayne Marshall’s “She Nah Come” and more.

Esco’s second Riddim project was titled 40-4 PLAY. The Riddim features songs from; Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Esco, Future Fambo featuring Mr. Easy, Lady Saw, Wayne Marshall and more. ESCO has been grinding in the studio creating a variety of sounds; some songs are laid back with strong foundational influences, others are more contemporary with a competitive baritone delivery that stands strong against any popular deejay and is an extension of the path already laid with previous works.  His solo tracks allow his fan base to get the full breadth and scope of his writing and lyrical abilities on the mic.   “God Is Love” from the Natural Breeze Riddim by Open Ear Music released the winter of 2007 demonstrated a distinctly unexpected level of versatility.  Esco was also featured in the Riddim’s video medley.  This new sound for Esco was truly embraced throughout the Reggae community worldwide and resonated with his new fan base in Europe aiding the effect of his winter 2007 tour with Wayne Marshall.   Keeping with this spiritual vein; “Wow” from Natural Bridge Records’ Sea Breeze Riddim.   Esco also teamed up with musician/producer Mario Lawrence to create material that reflects this social conscious spiritual nexus for Mario’s Muzik Factory.

As a Dancehall Esco is still catering to the clubs with songs like; “Dun Dem Credit” featuring Fresh on Seanizzle Records’ Creepa Riddim.  Esco’s song “Don’t Hail We” from Irie FM’s own DJ Sunshine’s party Riddim Ghetto Wuk created by Christopher Birch. “Buss A Whine”, another recognizable single was actually a one off from Esco’s 1-1-1 Productions.

To keep the diversity going, Esco also continues to record collaborations within the Soca community.  Several notable songs in the last year have included; “Wine Of My Dreams” on the Response Riddim produced by Johann Seaton of Sel Construction and “All Day RMX” with Shurwayne Winchester and Johnny King.  Esco even joined Shurwayne Winchester to perform their song in front of an excited Soca crowd in Jamaica during the Carnival season.

By the end of 2009, Esco’s songs; “First Lady”, “Dirty Weave”, and “Full Force” were circulating and creating a new buzz.    “First Lady” was a recording done with Mixmaster David out of Atlanta on his Money Year Riddim.  “Dirty Weave” a playful party track, was produced but Chimmey Records on the Movie Star Riddim.   These two songs were the backdrop for Esco’s latest medley video.   As 2009 drew to a close, Esco was the unfortunate victim of a robbery that nearly resulted in kidnapping.  This harrowing experience drew Esco closer to his purpose and much more reflective musically. The song “Wha Nuh Kill Yu” was one hundred percent inspired from the experience.  Recording with a renewed zest, Esco delivered “Anytime You Call” produced by Open Ear Music, “Watch Dem” and on the Moonwalk Riddim.   Esco has also been recording with Gang 5 Music and has two current releases “Highest Of Di Highest” and “More To Life”; both more spiritual in nature that are connecting with fans and DJs worldwide.

As 2010 unfolds, Esco has been fading out 1-1-1 Productions, by releasing the Mansions riddim from his Tall King Productions, a new brand that is more befitting to his identify.  The Mansions riddim features recordings by; Alaine, Elephant Man, Etana, Gyptian, Jah Cure and more.  His own song “Blessings” is already receiving wide ratings from Reggae DJs worldwide as it is solidifying his transition as a conscious solo dancehall artist.
